A carnival of capitalism is the day after Thanksgiving, Black Friday. This is when retailer all around the country open before dawn to lure customers out of bed by dangling huge discounts on their merchandise. Some deal-seekers will set up camp out in front of the store to be first to walk in.

Being the official beginning of the holiday-buying frenzy, Black Friday has become one of the most profitable days of the year for retailers. The name itself reference to profit “moved into the black”

Even though retailers are mostly profitable all year around, the major chain stores consider Black Friday a very important shopping day of the year.

The question is how to draw the customer into the store. Well the answer is really simple; some stores are opening up earlier then their competitors and offer better and bigger discounts on merchandise. Some stores will even be open at midnight on Thanksgiving.

But not everyone is for the new strategy. The serious Black Friday shoppers have taken to their blogs, Facebook and Twitter, saying that opening up early is an issue for them. Since they want to be in front be of the line or as near as possible to the doors, shoppers are going to have leave a lot earlier, even in the middle of Thanksgiving dinner.

After retailer hearing about some shoppers having this issue with the stores opening up earlier. The retailers have come up with something easier for everyone. Online shopping. Offering the same discounts on the same merchandise online and making easier for customers just to pick up their items then having to wait in line. Because of this strategy 33.6 percent of the weekend shoppers bought online, which according to National Retail Federation’s study was the highest percentage ever for online shopping.

So to you the reader, what will you be? Will you be at the store waiting in line before the doors open or will you make it easier for yourself and just shop online?
